About Peery’s Egyptian Theater
About Peery’s Egyptian Theater
Peery’s Egyptian Theater was built in 1924 on the site of the Arlington Hotel after it burned down. Designed by the architectural firm Hodgson & McClenahan, the theater was inspired by famous Egyptian-themed theaters like Grauman’s Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood. Over the years, the theater evolved from a vaudeville house to a community theater, facing challenges such as closure in 1984. However, it was saved from demolition and restored, reopening in 1997. Today, it stands as a historic landmark, hosting various cultural events, including the Sundance Film Festival.
