Jerry Floor: Clarinet Jerry is founder of Jazz Arts of the Mountain West and co founder with Rocky Anderson of the Salt Lake City International Jazz Festival. Jerry is involved in promoting jazz and music education. He is the director of the JAM band, an 18 piece big band and also performs with his own ensembles. He works regularly with the Utah Symphony as a backup musician for various jazz related touring artists. Reed Lecheminant: Cornet Reed earned a Master in Jazz Performance from the University of Denver. He is an accomplished lead trumpet player and is often found in recording studios, pit orchestras and big band settings in the lead chair. Bob Bailey: Piano Bob is the veteran in the band. He brings 60 years of experience from the west coast where he performed with virtually every big name under the Hollywood sun. He writes and arranges for the band and is one of the few pianists left who plays authentic stride piano. Dr. Steve Call: tuba Dr. Call teaches Jazz studies and low brass instruments at BYU. He is proficient on most brass instruments, including trombone and cornet; but his world class tuba playing must be experienced to be believed. He is also a professional jazz pianist. Jay Lawrence: drums (sitting in) Jay is well known for his recording and performing expertise as a drummer and percussionist. He is an excellent jazz drummer and has performed with nationally known names. Dr. Shannon Roberts: Trombone Shannon is another of those rare individuals equally at home on trumpet, cornet, trombone, tuba, euphonium and, surprizingly, flute. He is an adjunct professor of jazz performance at the University of Utah where he also directs the number 1 jazz band. From California, Shannon was the musical director of Sea World prior to his move to Utah. Keven Johansen: Banjo/Guitar An Associate adjunct professor of Jazz History at the University of Utah, Keven brings superb jazz skills to the Great Basin Street Band. Keven has performed with some of the great names in jazz. Traditional jazz is a particular favorite of Keven's. Accomplishments The Great Basin Street Band is creating a solid reputation at a number of internationally recognized jazz and music festivals. All members of the band are stand alone great artists yet the combined ensemble defines the concept of synergy. GBSB is entertaining and musically outstanding, promising an exciting experience for any audience. The band has performed at many festivals, among them, the Fidelity Investments Park City Jazz Festival, on occasion, and often as part of the Salt Lake City International Jazz Festival. In 1999 the GBSB was invited to Perugia Italy, performing as a featured group in the Umbria Jazz Festival. This is the grandfather of European Jazz Festivals and boasts crowds of 100,000 and more. It is one of the most respected festivals in Europe. The GBSB logged 20 performances over the 10 days of the festival. One result of those performances was an invitation to perform in the Umbria Winter Festival in Orvieto, Italy. The band returned to Italy and brought in the new century playing for 7 days.
