| Established in 1973, The Salt Lake City Jazz Orchestra (Formerly known as The JAM Band) has performed with some of the finest artists in the world to include Doc Severinsen, Phil Woods, Eddie Daniels, Jack Jones, Clarke Terry, Nancy Wilson and many others. Sometimes components of the band are hired to play with the Utah Symphony when they are performing in the jazz genre. The SLCJO is essentially “the house band” for the Salt Lake City International Jazz Festival, backing up several of the invited artists every year. It was named, The Salt Lake City Jazz Orchestra by Mayor Rocky Anderson at the 2002 Festival. Famed vocalist, Jack Jones, reported the band to be, "...the best band I've sung with in twenty years!" |
